Introducing the GDCTA Horse of the Year Awards
Celebrate your horse’s achievements with the new GDCTA Horse of the Year Awards! These awards recognize outstanding horse-and-rider partnerships competing in USEF/USDF/USEA recognized dressage and eventing competitions, with separate awards honoring accomplishments at lower and upper levels.
Who is eligible?
Horses and riders must hold the required active GDCTA memberships and discipline-specific registrations (USDF/USEF for dressage and USEA for eventing) when scores are earned at recognized competitions.
Recognized Dressage: Awards are based on median scores earned at a single level during the competition year, October 1 through September 30. Lower-Level awards cover Training through Fourth Level, while Upper-Level awards cover Prix St. Georges through Grand Prix. Minimum score and competition requirements apply.
Recognized Eventing: Points are awarded based on competition placings during the same October 1–September 30 season. Only the top six scores for each horse-and-rider combination at a single level count toward final standings. Awards are divided into Lower Level (Starter through Training) and Upper Level (Modified through Advanced), with minimum eligibility requirements applying.
Automatic tracking makes participation easier! Scores are compiled automatically, provided horses and owners/riders have the appropriate active registrations and memberships when scores are earned.
Members should review their standings and submit any final corrections by 5:00 p.m. EST on October 31.
