  In honor of Liz Faso's many years of service to GDCTA specifically as volunteer coordinator, this volunteer program will now be known as the Liz Faso Memorial Volunteer of the Year.

  
  

  1) $1000.00 to the person with the most hours volunteered at GDCTA events and participating shows (check the events calendar to find the events that will work for you!)

  2) $750.00 to person with the 2nd highest number of hours

  3) $500.00 to person with the 3rd highest number of hours

  4) $250.00 raffle consisting of every volunteer with 24 hrs volunteering

  
  

  This program will run from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024, and will be awarded at the Awards Gala in 2025.

  Dear GDCTA-recognized schooling show organizers:

  The GDCTA is offering your volunteers an opportunity to participate in the Wilsun Custom Horse Products Volunteer of the Year for 2024 volunteer incentive program by volunteering AT YOUR SHOWS.

  We are offering this incentive to your show volunteers for a $25.00 buy-in fee (https://gdcta.wildapricot.org/Sys/Store/Products/291510). That fee covers all your shows in 2024. All you have to do is send Caren Caverly (ccaverly@comcast.net) by email your volunteers names and total number of hours worked on an excel sheet. GDCTA will promote your shows as participating in this program. If you are interested, let Caren know.

  Share the excitement from inside the events: 

  • Meet international judges, competitors, and learn how the competitions work.

  • Scribing at a show is a great educational experience to help you improve as a rider! 

  • Help a Junior rider put a winning sash on her horse for the victory gallop! 

  • Participate as a ring steward in order to better understand our sport.

  GDCTA is pleased to have Jessica Jo (JJ) Tate returning! JJ Tate is the rare combination of a gifted rider and an effective, inspiring teacher. 

  
  

  Jessica Jo “JJ” Tate began to take her place among the country’s riding elite early, making her FEI debut at just 16 years old. Earning numerous national and regional titles, JJ’s has trained and competed over 29 horses at the FEI levels, including eight at Grand Prix. Known for her classical education and elegant riding, she is a top competitor who’s devotion to the very highest standards of horsemanship and integrity make her a positive role model in the contemporary dressage world. JJ has been long-listed for the World Equestrian Games and represented the United States in competitions abroad. Recent notable wins include Dressage at Devon World Cup Grand Prix in September 2018 and the Global Dressage Festival CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle in February 2020 aboard Faberge.

  Purpose:

  To award the student enrolled in school that is an equestrian athlete for their perseverance in their riding endeavors, this program wishes to acknowledged these youth riders’ hard work and achievement throughout the levels.

  Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be a current GDCTA Member in the year which scores are earned.
  • Applicant is a Youth Rider age of 22 or under as of December 31, the year scores are earned.
  • Applicant is concurrently enrolled in school/college with a minimum of B or 3.0 average. Proof enrollment in school and student achievement is required (ie: report cards).
  • Applicant must volunteer 8 hours through GDCTA or any non-profit, horse show, etc. Note that hours volunteered at GDCTA Hosted events will count double hours. Must submit a signed Volunteer Credit Form.

  ​​Please email all materials by the application deadline. YES you must APPLY.  Once all of your materials are in and your eligibility is confirmed an invoice will be emailed to you.

  Update on our beloved recognized letterman jacket program:
  

  We have worked hard to keep this program afloat as the joy on the faces of those earning their jackets and patches is a highlight of the Gala every year. Just like any business or family, sometimes budgets are tight and sometimes we can make it rain money (not actually, but one can dream). With two years of not hosting the region 3 dressage championships, we have had to tighten the purse strings. A strict budget may not be fun, but it does ensure the longevity of the club and the many ways we try to enrich our Georgia horse community. We have long subsidized the recognized letterman program, but this year we can no longer absorb that cost. You will see a big jump in the price of the jackets, please know it is still not a profitable venture. This is a breakeven price. Turns out traditional letterman jackets are spendy. It is an absolute privilege for us to run this program and see our young equestrian athletes get recognized, and we hope to enjoy this program for years to come. We encourage our letterman athletes to get creative and earn some dollars to put towards their new jackets - bake sale, tack cleaning, mane pulling, arena mirror cleaning, etc. We will be happy to share their ventures to help spread the word.

• GDCTA Awards Gala

  Riders set goals and compete all season to qualify for the GDCTA Awards. This Awards Gala is a celebration of those efforts as well as an opportunity to mix and mingle with horse friends outside of the barn aisle. The Awards Gala is the biggest fundraiser for GDCTA with a portion of the proceeds going to UGA Vet School and the rest used to fund all the organization's events and activities. If you would like to make a financial donation, go to the website donate page.

  The Silent Auction and Barn Basket raffle bidding will be online again this year. There will be an email when the auction opens or you can go to the link and sign up: https://gdcta.cbo.io. The Barn Baskets and Silent Auction will be set up at the Gala. Barn Basket tickets will also be on sale at the event.
