DO YOU HOST GDCTA-RECOGNIZED SCHOOLING SHOWS?

    Dear GDCTA-recognized schooling show organizers:

The GDCTA is offering your volunteers an opportunity to participate in the Wilsun Custom Horse Products Volunteer of the Year for 2024 volunteer incentive program by volunteering AT YOUR SHOWS.

We are offering this incentive to your show volunteers for a $25.00 buy-in fee (https://gdcta.wildapricot.org/Sys/Store/Products/291510). That fee covers all your shows in 2024. All you have to do is send Caren Caverly (ccaverly@comcast.net) by email your volunteers names and total number of hours worked on an excel sheet. GDCTA will promote your shows as participating in this program. If you are interested, let Caren know.

GDCTA is a member-focused and member-run organization that depends on volunteers!  We encourage you to become involved in any of the many activities we offer.  Have a new idea?  Bring it to the board at a meeting.

Share the excitement from inside the events:

    • Meet international judges, competitors, and learn how the competitions work.

    • Scribing at a show is a great educational experience to help you improve as a rider!

    • Help a Junior rider put a winning sash on her horse for the victory gallop!

    • Participate as a ring steward in order to better understand our sport.

    • If you’re a trainer, volunteer your time for a Kudzu Klinic

GDCTA is pleased to host Shelly Francis, a long-time American A-squad Grand Prix rider, at Shannondale Farm in Milton, GA.

Shelly Francis is one of the few elite high-performance trainers in the U.S. with a long career as a successful international competitor aboard horses she has trained herself. Her long list of accolades includes representing the U.S. as an alternate at two Olympic Games, as well as making the U.S. teams for two World Equestrian Games, two World Cups, and many Nation Cups. Some of her most notable victories include her 4* Grand Prix Freestyle wins at Aachen in 2018 and at Hagen Horses and Dreams in 2019.

Shelly’s talent extends beyond just training as her ability to teach riders is second to none. Shelly’s students range from green to international Grand Prix competitors. Shelly’s training focuses on teaching riders to be fair, clear, and effective to create a harmonious relationship with their horse.

After taking a brief showing hiatus the past couple of years to take the time to develop him, Shelly is excited to be now competing Dante, her own 17.3h black Hanoverian gelding by Danone I out of the same dam as Danilo. Shelly has high hopes for Dante and is looking forward to working towards exciting goals for the future.

The Program is divided into two parts; each part is made up of three sessions:

            • Session D1 involves practice judging full tests in each of the levels at a recognized competition.
            • Session D2 is similar to the D1 Session but with more emphasis on the testing situation and prepares candidates for the final exam.
            • Final Exam is comprised of both a written and practical exam. The written exam is all True/False and multiple choice, while the practical exam is a combination of judging full tests and some oral judging as well.

Riders set goals and compete all season to qualify for the GDCTA Awards. This Awards Gala is a celebration of those efforts as well as an opportunity to mix and mingle with horse friends outside of the barn aisle. If you would like to make a financial donation, go to the website Donate page: https://gdcta.wildapricot.org/Donate
